Refilling of empty laser toner cartridge come in several commonly practice methods. The end user himself refills and reuses the laser toner cartridge. The end user has a refill kit to accomplish the task. The refill kit includes a supply of compatible toner, instructions and tool needed for refilling and resealing of the cartridge.
Another method is the refilling and reselling of the original manufacturer. Toner cartridges are acquired back by their manufacturers for recycling and reuse. A third party neither the original manufacturer nor the original user of the toner cartridge refills and reuse the said cartridge. These are independent companies or individuals refilling and afterwards selling these newly refilled toner cartridges.
Still, other independent companies do a good business-offering refill as a service. Customers go to these enterprises bringing their empty laser toner cartridges to be refilled. This method of refilling empty cartridges is a good source of income. As has been known to many, the toner is a black dry powder that easily pours when shaken fairly well. Cartridges may vary in some details but the principles of refilling are almost the same for all cartridges.
Melt and pour is a technique of refilling an empty laser toner cartridge. Melting, or cutting, a hole in an empty cartridge is required first before the actual refilling. When a hole is made, pour the toner. A hole-making tool is included in the refill kit, which uses heat to create a hole in the cartridge. After the toner powder had been poured into the cartridge, reseal said cartridge with tape.
Another technique is the screw and unplug. Some cartridges have a single screw to be unplugged. After unplugging the screw, toner powder can be refilled into the cartridge and then screwed again. Some cartridges have two or three of such screws, which are unplugged in refilling. There are forthcoming designs with four screwed cartridges.
One more method is the unplug-and-pour technique. Cartridges have built-in safety plug wherein the user just unplug these devices and that’s it, pour in the new toner powder into the cartridge.
Still another method of refilling an empty laser toner cartridge is the open, unplug and pour procedure. It is unlikely that the cartridge would be opened accidentally. A threaded tool is needed to pull out plastic casing pins in a laser cartridge model. It is similar to the uncorking of a bottle of wine. After such uncorking, unplug the cartridge and pour in the new laser toner powder.
Indefinite refilling is impossible to a laser toner cartridge. There are mechanical parts in cartridges that wear out; such parts are drums and rollers. Enterprises that refill and resale cartridges generally clean and test these cartridges to ensure that these cartridges are fit and ready to be refilled.
